PTR PTS Calculator: Pharma Trade Prices in Seconds

Use this free PTR PTS calculator to work out pharma trade prices from the MRP. Enter the MRP including GST, the GST slab, and the retailer and stockist margins, and the calculator instantly shows the price excluding GST, the Price to Retailer (PTR), and the Price to Stockist (PTS).

It follows the standard trade convention used in pharma pricing: GST is removed first, then each margin is backed out from the price above it. That makes it useful for pharma professionals, distributors, retailers, and PCD franchise owners who need a quick, transparent trade-price check.

What is a PTR PTS Calculator?

PTR stands for Price to Retailer, the price at which a retailer buys a pharma product, and PTS stands for Price to Stockist, the price at which a stockist buys it. Both are worked back from the MRP, which already includes GST and the trade margins.

Using the standard trade convention, the formula is: Step 1: Price excl. GST = MRP x 100/(100+GST%). Step 2: PTR = excl.-GST price x 100/(100+retailer margin%). Step 3: PTS = PTR x 100/(100+stockist margin%). Margins sit on the lower trade price, hence division. Note: free-goods schemes (e.g. 10+2) are not included.

How to Use the PTR PTS Calculator (Step by Step)

  • Enter MRP incl. GST.
  • Enter the product’s GST slab.
  • Enter retailer + stockist margins.
  • Press Calculate.

Example Calculation

MRP Rs 100, GST 12%, retailer 20%, stockist 10% gives: excl. GST Rs 89.29; PTR Rs 74.40; PTS Rs 67.64. First, 100 x 100/112 = 89.29. Then, 89.29 x 100/120 = 74.40. Finally, 74.40 x 100/110 = 67.64.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is PTR and PTS?

PTR is the price at which a retailer buys from a stockist/distributor chain’s retailer level, and PTS is the price at which the stockist buys. Both are derived from MRP after GST and margins.

Why is GST removed first?

Trade margins are earned on the taxable value, not on the GST amount, so calculators first back out GST from the MRP.

Are retailer margins fixed?

No. Margins vary by company, product type (ethical, generic, OTC) and scheme offers. Enter the margin agreed for your product.

Does this include schemes like 10+2 free?

No. Free-goods schemes change the effective margin and must be adjusted separately from the base PTR/PTS.
